The food and wine were lovely, and the young waiter was friendly. Still, the staff made us feel unwelcome on the last night of our trip, and the whole atmosphere was uncomfortable. We’d come in hoping for a meal, but after ordering a bottle of wine to share, we were told the kitchen was about to close at around 9:15. We felt awkward ordering a main course, so we stuck to starters. We’d just finished those with more than half the bottle left when staff complained that we were still sitting there. They then asked us to pay cash because they’d closed and couldn’t take a card. We had no cash and had to ask to pay by card, which made things uncomfortable again. I understand they needed to close up, but we’d never have ordered wine or food if we’d known we’d be rushed out. That closing time is very normal in Paris. I also don’t understand why they seated us if they wanted us gone within an hour. I almost never write reviews, especially bad ones, but I don’t want other people looking forward to a holiday meal to have the same experience.
