Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre

We arrived at 8PM with a lot of luggage, and the man at the front desk spoke to us as if we were stupid. My two best friends and I were excited for our first trip to Paris, but that welcome immediately brought our spirits down. We hadn't realized we'd booked for two people instead of three, but we offered to pay the rate for a three-person room or any extra fee, and were willing to do whatever we could to keep the reservation. Every suggestion got the same answer: “Not possible.” He just shrugged when we asked if he expected us to go out into the street and find another hotel. He wouldn't suggest anywhere else when we asked, and said a refund wasn't possible either. The manager, Alex, wasn't at the hotel and we couldn't speak with him. In the end, the only option offered was to buy a very expensive room for one person to accommodate the third guest, while still paying for the original room. We also had to leave our room key at reception whenever we went in or out. We'll speak to the manager tomorrow, but based on this poor service, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We spent four nights here in Paris and had a lovely room, including a really nice bathroom with a great shower. The best surprise was the view of the top of the Eiffel Tower. Getting around was easy too, with the Metro only a short walk away and the Eiffel Tower another short walk from there. Couldn't have asked for a better stay.

We had a fantastic stay, even though I was unsure about booking after reading some reviews. Our room on the fourth floor was clean, a comfortable size, and easily fit our decently sized cases. It also had a beautiful Eiffel Tower view. The reception ladies were so nice, and breakfast had more variety than I expected. I didn't mind the security deposit since I'd come across that at other hotels before. The Metro is very close, and I personally slept just fine.

The deposit still hasn't been returned. I was asked for an extra €100 after paying for the room by bank card, and nobody had mentioned this security deposit before payment. When I questioned it, the receptionist said it was hotel policy and that I had to pay. Asking for a refund got me nowhere, and he spoke to me disrespectfully, even though I was with my wife. We had booked the room for two, but after we paid the deposit we were stopped from going up and told to pay another €12 just to register my wife. It felt as if the staff were taking advantage of the late hour and the fact we'd already paid. A very bad experience, and I'd advise others to be careful.
