I'd call it a 3.5, but I didn't want to be harsh with the rating system. It was a decent stay and good value for the money. The reception was great, and handing in your keys gave extra peace of mind. The rooms are fairly modern, though a little tired, which was expected at this price. There were a couple of stains on the beds, but they were covered by a few layers of bedding. Well worth the money.

The rooms weren't especially clean, and when we arrived there wasn't any toilet paper. We were two people staying for four nights, but when we asked, the staff haggled with us and only wanted to give us one roll. Front desk service was very poorly managed by an old man and an old Arab lady. The management seems stingy and short on basic customer service and experience skills. There are plenty of reasons it has only 2.8 stars at the time I'm writing this. I'd strongly recommend they improve their customer service and experience skills and keep the hotel cleaner overall.

The way Hôtel Europe BLV handled my booking felt dishonest and unprofessional. I booked a September 27-29 stay through Hostelworld and paid a €24.97 deposit. A couple of days later, they tried to charge the balance at 2 a.m. while I was asleep, so the payment didn't go through. My booking still showed as fully confirmed in the Hostelworld app, with all its details and the remaining balance due at check-in, as happens with many hotels. At arrival, the receptionist abruptly said the booking had been canceled. I hadn't received any cancellation email, and they hadn't tried the payment again. When I questioned her, she blamed the Hostelworld app. Then, while I was standing there, she called someone in French, and a cancellation email came through. That showed they could cancel it right away, but they hadn't, leaving me misled until I arrived. Rather than take responsibility, she pressured me to accept a smaller, worse room at the same price, saying “someone else was ready to book it,” though rooms were still listed online as available. It felt manipulative and like a scam. Room 34 was filthy too. After we'd come back from a walk, we noticed bites right away, then spotted bed bugs crawling on the wall and bed. The receptionist reacted with shocking indifference and only said “Oh, bed bug,”. He moved us to Room 26 as if he were doing us a huge favor. He said there were no other rooms, but “luckily one had just been canceled,” which felt like another trick. That room was just as dirty, and we kept getting bitten. On our last day, while packing, we saw baby bed bugs on the bed, the floor, and near our belongings. Less than an hour after we moved out, the original room with bed bugs showed up online as available from the next day. It looked like they were knowingly reselling a contaminated room instead of closing it for cleaning and pest control. When I challenged the receptionist, he dismissed me by saying, “Well, you know Paris is a dirty city.” That's insulting and ridiculous. Paris isn't dirty, your hostel is. I'll report the property to the Service d’hygiène in France for health violations. My friend came with me and only wanted to wait in reception, but the woman at the desk rudely refused, saying “It’s closed,” and kicked her out. It was humiliating and unwelcoming, and showed no understanding of basic hospitality. This was one of the worst travel experiences I've had. The hostel was dishonest with bookings, filthy and infested with bed bugs, and the staff refused responsibility and treated guests disrespectfully. Avoid Hôtel Europe BLV for your health, safety, and peace of mind.

For a low price, the hotel is pretty okay. The people were really nice and helpful, though their English wasn't very good. The location was perfect, with the metro right outside the door, and the surrounding area was lovely. The rooms weren't the cleanest, but they're okay for a short trip to Paris.
