Hotel Excelsior Batignolles

Hotel Excelsior Batignolles felt welcoming, with cosy, comfortable rooms and an excellent location. I had a lovely stay there, and it's a great option for a visit to Paris.

I called in the middle of the night to ask about accessibility for my friend, and the receptionist hung up while I was checking. I had to call back and tell him that was rude. It was heartbreaking to see a hotel claiming “high standards” treat customers that way. Hire people with some training and humanity.

The room was nice, well equipped, and met our expectations. The location was very good, the area quiet and easy to reach, with restaurants and public transport nearby. The staff were kind, and check-in and check-out were quick. We didn't try breakfast. The building and floor creak a lot. You can hear every step from the neighbours, and they can hear ours too. The bed was in poor condition. I'm not sure whether it was the mattress or frame, but we didn't sleep very comfortably.

The front desk staff were lovely and even agreed the Wi-Fi was unreliable, but the manager said an occasional connection meant it was working and refused to refund the rest of my stay. I was there on a business trip and couldn’t work because the signal kept dropping and was weak. My room was dirty, the sheets weren’t clean, and the bathroom shower was just a hose in the tub, with no wall fitting like the pictures showed. The advertised air conditioning didn’t work either. I was told to open the window, but it was noisy. I’d landed late after a 14-hour flight and stayed the first night because I couldn’t get online to find another place. I had to leave after that. Don’t support a business that treats guests this way.
