Hotel La Louisiane

The hotel itself hasn’t changed, and the same atmosphere is still there, though the rooms have got even better over the years. The street has changed, unfortunately, and the lovely market in front is gone. I’ve been coming here for nearly 40 years for good reason, it feels so much like coming home. Thank you for the room you gave us this time. Just amazing.

The room and bathroom were pristine and newly renovated, and it was tidied every day. We had plenty of towels, a refrigerator, and a coffee maker. My sister and I got a fantastic deal on a room with two beds, right on Rue de Buci, one of the prettiest streets in Paris. It’s lined with charming cafes, patisseries, and restaurants, and there’s a Carrefour market across from the property. The only thing I’d change is the tiny, overstuffed pillow on each bed. Otherwise, we couldn’t have picked a better place and will absolutely stay again.

Our family room on floor 5 had a RAT chewing through our luggage when we woke up. I can’t explain how horrifying that was, and the hotel’s reaction made it seem like this was normal for them. The replacement room, number 21 on the 1st floor, smelled terribly of MOLD, and FLIES were covering the bathroom and coming up from the drain. The hotel also confirmed there had been recent BEDBUGS on the 3rd floor. I felt unsafe there, and this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. If there’s a fire or other emergency, guests would struggle to get out because there’s so much junk in the hallways. The hotel is worn down, with holes in the rugs and other issues, though that was minor compared with the RATS, MOLD, FLIES, and BEDBUGS. They confirmed in writing that they’d refund us, but refused to pay and stopped answering once we left. We paid full price for this horrific experience. Stay away, this hotel is a safety hazard.

I found it was the cheapest place I could get in St Germain des Pres. It has a great location and lots of character. Apparently, Miles Davis lived there during his romance with Juliette Greco, which is its claim to fame, though many other famous artists also stayed there. I’m sure it must have been something in its heyday.
