La Manufacture Hotel

The staff were very nice and helpful, and the hotel felt about right for a three-star place. Still, a few things could be better, especially the room setup. I’d forgotten my phone charging cable. The receptionist had some trouble understanding which kind I needed, but we eventually found one I could borrow. Neither of the plugs in my room worked, though, which was a real letdown. There was a nice coffee machine, but no kettle. I assume the idea was to use the machine for hot water, but it wasn’t quite hot enough for tea. Just a small request from a tea drinker. The bathroom was in a corner room, and getting into the shower was difficult because it was far too narrow. I’d suggest warning guests about that room, or avoiding it for people with limited mobility, including someone tall, large, or pregnant. It’s not a bad hotel, but there are better ones.

The room and bathroom were VERY small. I travel in all kinds of ways and have often shared hostel rooms, but this was still really constricting. We should have picked a different option. The walls were thin too, though honestly that wasn’t a big issue. The location was fine and close to a metro station, the neighborhood was okay, check-in was quick and easy, and the air conditioning worked well. I don’t remember having wifi trouble. Just note that payment was taken at check-in. Cleanliness was below par. The bathroom was dusty, there was grime stuck in the shower, the sheets had slight stains, and housekeeping didn’t replace our towels. On our first day out, we came back to find two spiders, a strange-looking thing on the ceiling that we couldn’t reach, and other little flying bugs we couldn’t get to either. We hadn’t opened any windows and had been gone all day, so we have NO idea how they got in. Frankly, that ruined the ENTIRE stay. We told the front desk, but they shrugged it off, said we must have opened the window (we had NOT), and told us to figure it out.

Public transport is right outside, and cinemas, malls, markets, and everything else are just around the corner. The hotel has a quiet feel and charming decor, and it made me feel at home. The room was super comfortable and sparkling clean.

The location is handy for lots of public transport, and Notre Dame is about a 20-minute run away. The hotel was excellent. I’d highly recommend booking a room with a balcony, since it’s very spacious.
