Hôtel les Degrés de Notre Dame

Sergio, the host and manager, was gracious, welcoming, and friendly. I spent four nights in a charming traditional Parisian room in an old-style building, and it felt well worth the money. The location is right across the Seine from Notre-Dame, with lots of good restaurants in the Latin quarter within walking distance. I’d absolutely come back.

We had a friendly check-in, and the price was pretty fair for such a fantastic location. From our fourth-floor window, Notre Dame was just a couple of blocks away. The room was fine for cleanliness, with fresh bedding and towels, and the king-size bed was reasonably comfortable, a rare find in Paris. There was no service on our second night, so the bed wasn’t made and the towels weren’t replaced. Hang them up to dry. There’s no elevator, and the winding staircase has 70 steps to the fourth floor. It was awkward with even small luggage, and even more so after a couple of bottles of wine. :)

The cathedral Notre Dame is right next door, and a major public transport hub is nearby. The place was clean, and the staff were good. A great spot to stay in Paris.

The staff are lovely, and the rooms have comfortable beds, nice linen, and a cute vintage French look. They’re modest in size, but the location is great. Parking is a real pain if you’re driving: street parking is a nightmare and the nearby parking bay costs €35 a day. There’s no elevator and the stairs are steep, so it won’t suit people with physical disabilities unless they book the first floor. If you get the best room, expect to carry luggage up four flights. There are no English-language TV channels, and I wouldn’t recommend it for kids.
