We couldn’t even spot the hotel easily from outside, and the entrance was filthy: broken glass sat in a dead plant by the door, part of the door’s small glass panel was broken, and there was dirt on the floor and dust on the carpet and seats. They demanded full payment before letting us see the room. There was no elevator, and carrying two heavy suitcases upstairs broke two of the handles. The room was caked with dust and grime in the corners. The mini fridge held a foil-wrapped sandwich covered in green fur. A socket came loose from the wall; the owner pushed it back in and told us to be gentle with it. The bathroom was so disgusting I couldn’t bring myself to use it after a long journey. Every corner had mold, dust or grime, and the extractor fan looked either furry with dust or mold. The bed was stained in several places and smelled bad. There was no AC in temperatures over 30 degrees celcius. With the window open, we got food smells from nearby shops and loud shouting from outside. The owner refused a refund, a different room or even to clean the one we had. My mother lost around 425 euro or so on the booking. It’s a full-on scam. That same night, we booked another hotel, Grand Hotel Dorè, in Daumesnil and took a taxi there late at night.

We paid little for a weekend in Paris, and the room and bathroom weren’t very clean, though for that price it was OK. The owners spoke a little English, so we were able to communicate. It’s not a quiet neighborhood, which suited me and my friends just fine. If you want to go out partying and just need a place to sleep, this works 😊

It’s close to the metro, and for a weekend in Paris we felt we got what we paid for: a bedroom and a bathroom. The staff tidied up a bit while we were out. The place isn’t the cleanest or quietest, and the area isn’t the best, but for the price it’s probably the best you’ll get. The reviews really tear into this place, but we didn’t see any bugs.

The breakfast was the one redeeming feature, once staff got past seeming surprised that I wanted it. The real problem was the noise. You hear everything from the very noisy street. When I arrived, they’d forgotten my reservation, and I was apparently “lucky” they had a spare room. The whole place needs cleaning, and the stairs and corridors are a mess. The power sockets in my room were hanging off the wall.

At least the metro station is very close. The room smelled bad as soon as we walked in, though, and there was no faucet, so we had to buy bottled water to brush our teeth. They claim to speak English, but that wasn’t true in our experience, only French. Please do yourself a favor and don’t book this hotel.
