Hotel Rendez-Vous Batignolles

We really enjoyed our three nights here, and the service was great. Breakfast was good value, especially the excellent pain au chocolat and pastries. The reception area has a water cooler and a nice coffee machine where you can help yourself. Our room was small, as you’d expect in Paris, but it had a storage nook with hangers, a little table, and a very good bathroom. The soap, shower gel, and shampoo were nice, the water pressure was strong, and the hairdryer worked well. There’s also an elevator. We did have a couple of snags: one side of the bed sagged a bit, and the air conditioning in room 211 didn’t work. Opening the window was fine since the street wasn’t very noisy, and even light sleepers could get some rest. The good parts outweighed those issues, and we’d come back.

We loved staying here. The location was fantastic, and the staff were helpful when we needed something. The room was compact, but that’s Paris, and the shower cubicle was a reasonable size. There’s coffee by the entrance, which was a welcome surprise since there’s no kettle in the room. We also went to Tranche nearby every day for delicious croissants and baguettes at reasonable prices.

Getting around was easy, though some sights took two subway rides. The beds were good, the rooms were clean, and there’s a free espresso machine and water fountain. When our key stopped working, staff sorted it out quickly. Tres chic!

The only thing this place has going for it is its location near public transport. I wouldn’t stay here again, and I’d tell others to avoid it. The room was so cramped that our carry-on bags barely fit. The light switch often wouldn’t work unless we banged on it, and there was no working air conditioning. Opening the window was the only way to cool the room, but then a lot of noise came in, even though the closed window muffled some of it. Broken bathroom tiles lifted up, leaving bits of grout underfoot that hurt to step on. They provide a bottle you can refill at the water machine, which is useful, but the machine is only in the main building. There’s nothing like it in the second building. This was a horrible stay, the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
