Hôtel Monsieur & Spa

I chose this boutique hotel because we usually find these places more charming, and the rooms here did have charm. My own room was very large, with a balcony, a lovely view, and Parisian decor. I think it was called the Superior Balcony Room. It was clean and very quiet, with friendly, helpful staff. The bathroom was clean and unusually large for Paris, with a nice shower and lots of water pressure. There was a little desk with a Nespresso machine, plenty of closet space, and lovely white robes and slippers. We had breakfast there for convenience, and it had everything we needed. The staff member looking after the food was very attentive. My sister and brother-in-law's room had lots of space and a lovely large balcony, though it was too chilly for them to use it. They were happy with their room, but it needed some paint touch-ups and the bathroom door had a large chip at the bottom. Just wear and tear, and nothing that would stop us returning. The location was excellent and within walking distance of many sights. I researched a lot to find a hotel in a quiet, safe area, and I'm glad it lived up to expectations. I thought it was economical for what we got.

The private terrace faced inward rather than onto the street, so it was quiet, and we didn't feel overlooked by other rooms. Only two other rooms in the hotel have terraces, and we couldn't see them from ours. We had nice weather every day, so my cousin and I ate dinner out there each evening. It was a calm, welcoming place to return to after a busy day. We stayed three nights in the Sacha Guitry room with my partner and our 10-year-old son. The setup felt almost like two adjoining rooms: the pull-out single sofa bed was in a separate area with a door, so we could keep watching TV after touring while our son slept. The room and location were perfect. We ate breakfast every day. There was a good selection of hot dishes, continental meats and cheeses, fruit, pastries, and fresh juice. The coffee was self-serve from a machine, but it was a good one. At 18 euros each, you could probably find something simpler for less nearby, but it was good value and convenient for us. Children eat free, though it doesn't seem to be advertised, so it came to 36 euros a day for two adults and our child. We couldn't have done better even if we'd gone out for breakfast. The staff were very helpful and patient with my basic French, and they all speak very good English.

A small luxury hotel with clean, nicely decorated, spacious rooms and friendly, helpful staff. The buffet and breakfast area were OK, but smaller than I expected. The location is excellent, near the shopping street, la fayette et Printemps, Opéra, and place de la Madeleine.

We had a lovely room with a great bathroom and a small patio. An excellent two-night stay in Paris.
