Hôtel & Résidence de la Mare

I spent 20 days in Paris and changed hotels often, but this was the best one. The private studio had everything I needed, and the staff were great. Coming back in the evening, I'd find a chocolate waiting on my pillow. Everything was nice, including the low price. The one thing I missed was a shared room for breakfast.

The shared bathroom was spotless, and they provided a bathrobe for walking down the corridor. In the kitchenette there was oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. They also left treats like Toblerone on the pillow and drinks in the fridge. Fresh croissants and bread arrived in the morning, and the Wi-Fi was great. It's a compact room, but it has what you need. The hotel gave us a special map of the shops and restaurants in this authentic neighborhood. The center is just a short bus or metro ride away. It's rare in Paris to find somewhere clean, simple, well designed, comfortable, and affordable. The staff were very helpful. We'll be back for sure.

The neighborhood can feel a little sketchy now and then, though I felt safe overall. There's a short walk to the metro, and the local bar is a classic. The price was right, the room had a place to cook, and the cute courtyard was a nice touch. One of the few places I've stayed where the rooms actually looked like the pictures. I'd stay again.

It takes about eight minutes to walk to the nearest metro, and the hotel is far from the city center. To get to the Eiffel Tower, you have to change metro lines twice. Still, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were really good, and this place works well for a short stay if you want to cook in your room. They provide cooking equipment and basics like salt, pepper, oil, a pan, kettle, and plates.
