La Coupole

The sea bass with orzo was very good, though the fish was a little drier than I would've liked. The skin had a lovely crisp texture, and the orzo underneath was flavorful and perfectly cooked, so that small issue was easy to overlook. We also tried several classics. The seafood platter stood out, with impeccably fresh, clean-tasting oysters and tender, delicious whelks. The French onion soup had a deeply savory broth under a bubbly, beautifully browned Gruyère top. Silky, rich foie gras came with fruit compote, and even the bread and Charentes-Poitou butter showed care for quality. The Art Deco dining hall at La Coupole is grand and magnificent, with an elegant, historic buzz. Walking in feels like stepping back to the glamorous Roaring Twenties. It really is the quintessential Parisian brasserie experience. Service was professional and attentive, and the atmosphere is unmatched. For me, it was a five-star evening and a must-do if you want to experience Paris's history, culture, and food.

We were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries with my family, and Abdel made the evening wonderful with his humor and kindness. When my mother-in-law became unwell during dinner, he helped me take care of her quickly. It wasn't anything to do with the delicious food. Once she felt better, he arranged for us to move out to the veranda so she could get some fresh air and finish the evening comfortably. I'd come back in a heartbeat and really hope Abdel is there when I return. Thank you for helping leave us with only positive memories of the evening 🩷

We went early, and they managed to fit us in after a short wait even though it can get busy. The dishes were all good. Thanks for the great service, and book ahead if you can.

We enjoyed the Moules and frittes, which came in a generous portion, and had a muscadet with them. For dessert we chose the Mont Blanc with crème marron. When the bill came, two drinks had been taken off to apologize for the table mix-up. The restaurant was full when we arrived for a midweek dinner in late January. The front-of-house woman gave us a waiting ticket and said we were “Earnest Hemingway” for the evening. We waited at the bar with a drink, expecting to be called. After more than 30 minutes, we noticed people who had arrived later were already seated. I checked with the front of house, and she looked at her list and realized we'd been forgotten. We were then shown to a table in the huge, open dining room, with Art Deco decor and friezes on the walls.
