Le Myosotis

We paid a fair price for a small room without air-conditioning. The receptionist was really friendly, too. They knew the bus shortage at the airport meant we'd get in late, so they sped up our check-in and were there waiting when we arrived.

The pillows smelled bad, and the mattress was much harder than any I've had in another hotel. I couldn't hear noise from other rooms, but sound carried freely between my room and the hallway. Maybe I just got an unlucky room.

For EUR 55, this was a really solid base for seeing Paris. The neighborhood felt calm and safe, with Montparnasse cemetery and Park Montsouris both about a 10 to 15-minute walk away. Groceries were just around the corner, too. Getting around was easy: Alesia metro station was a five-minute walk, and line 4 connects directly to Saint-Germain des-Pres, Notre-Dame de Paris, Sacre-Coeur and the flea market, as well as other metro lines. The RER B / OrlyBus station was about ten minutes away for direct trips to Orly and CDG airports. The area isn't central, exactly, but it's convenient. We arrived at 7 am and the welcoming staff let us check in early for free. Our room was clean and had the main things we needed, including a hairdryer, plenty of sockets, a TV where we watched EURO 2016, and enough room for our bags and clothes. A few things to know: the WiFi was weak on the third floor but excellent on the ground floor, and the bathroom sound insulation could be better. There's no elevator, and the stairs are narrow. That didn't bother us, but it's worth being aware of.

The bedrooms are nicely decorated, and both breakfast and dinner were spectacular. The staff were very friendly. It's a great spot near the subway in a beautiful neighborhood.
