A quiet, quaint little passage right in the heart of Paris!
The Passage de l'Ancre Royale has two entrances, at 223 rue Saint-Marin and 30 rue Turbigo. Its history seems to go back to at least the 17th century. An old inn called "Au Grand Saint-Pierre" was advertised with an anchor sign, and its owner, Nicolas Sauvage, kept the first public cabs there starting in 1637.
This is one of Paris's oldest passages, just a short distance from the Museu des Arts et Métiers. It’s a private passage and may sometimes be closed. The roughly 50-meter walk is lovely, with lots of plants and flowers, and pretty colored shutters and windows that make the place feel like a movie set. Offices and workshops now occupy the space.
Even in late autumn, this is a really pretty spot. Worth a look.
So atmospheric and full of character.
