Lennon by Avalon Hotel Paris Gare du Nord

This was the only Paris hotel I could find with availability for a same-night booking by phone after midnight. The receptionist, who also handled my call, was friendly and attentive even at 2am, and went beyond what we expected. I called and booked with Avalon, but was put in a room at Lennon hotel.

The alarm has been sounding nonstop since yesterday afternoon, and the noise woke us at 7:00 a.m. We were also told the room only gets cleaned every four days, which makes no sense given its condition. The bathroom smells awful and is covered in mold. This was the worst stay we could have had. The room was unacceptable, the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed, and I’m extremely dissatisfied.

We found the location handy for Gare du Nord, though there were lots of suspicious people around, including tourist scammers, and the street noise disturbed us at night. The room felt dated and smaller than we’d hoped; there was mold around the bathroom ceiling and cracking paint. The bed was comfortable and the TV was a good size. Staff were welcoming from the start, and when our remote stopped working, the front desk went out and bought a replacement even though we were there for just one night. They also stored our bags for free after checkout. We felt well received, and it was a pleasant hotel in a convenient spot.

The staff were really kind and the service was great. The room and the area weren't the best, but at that very, very low price, we can't complain much.
