The room and the noise made this stay miserable. The air conditioning stopped during the first few hours, leaving the room unbearably hot, and the bed broke in the middle of the second night. We slept badly both nights. One window looked onto the air-conditioning units and the other onto a dirty open gap, so we couldn't leave either window open. The carpet was stained, there was a thick layer of dust on the wardrobe, and the TV was very old, with no digital entertainment system. It all felt like a nightmare for a hotel claiming to be 3-star. We booked this place for its central location and because dogs were said to be allowed. The website listed a fee of 15 euros per dog. I told the hotel in my booking that I was bringing two dogs and asked if the total would be 30 euros per day. They didn't reply until I emailed again more than two weeks later, and then confirmed that price. At check-in, the receptionist rudely told me only one dog was allowed per room, although that restriction wasn't clear on the website or booking. Since I'd already asked by email, he eventually accepted both dogs, charged the extra fee, and said we'd been assigned a larger room. When we complained about the room, they got the air conditioning running by pressing a central button. That made it seem they switch it off so it doesn't work. They also gave us a very basic breakfast for free and late checkout. A staff member spent much of the day shouting and swearing in the corridors, arguing with several people. We heard her screaming repeatedly. We regret staying here and couldn't wait to leave. Avoid this hotel.

The room was lovely, with a nice street view, and the bathroom felt clean and airy. The staff were really helpful when we wanted to visit Versailles: they pointed out the nearest stations and advised us to book through the main website first. Pax Opera is so central that I'd stay here again to see more of the sights. Definitely recommend it.

Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, and the area felt very safe. I stayed in December and found the room clean and warm. Hotel Pax Opera is also well placed, with several metro stations close by, so Central Paris is under 10 minutes away by metro, or the Louvre is under a 30-minute walk. The reception staff were fantastic, friendly, and very helpful. Good value for a budget stay, and I'd recommend it.

We felt frightened and unsafe during our stay, and I've never had such a bad experience at a hotel. On the night of 28 February 2026, just my female friend and I were staying here. I checked in late and accidentally left my wallet at reception. A while later someone hammered on our door. There was no peephole, and it was late, so we called out to ask who it was. The person only shouted, “Open the door,” without saying who they were or why they were there. We were so scared that we called our male friends at another hotel and kept them on the phone. We kept asking who was there and whether something was wrong. Eventually the man said he worked at reception and that I'd left my wallet downstairs, so we opened the door. He seemed angry and yelled that he'd called our room and we hadn't answered. We were both there and hadn't heard the phone ring. He kept scolding us for not picking up and for taking too long to open the door. We tried to explain that if he'd identified himself and told us about the wallet right away, we'd have opened the door immediately. Instead, he said it was our duty to answer whenever he knocked, that this wasn't our house, and that we had no right to refuse to open the door. Being two women alone at night, we found his loud, unexplained knocking frightening. I felt close to tears and just said I understood before closing the door. Then he knocked again and said we hadn't thanked him and should do so first. We would have thanked him if he'd brought the wallet politely, but we were shouted at and treated aggressively.

I booked two nights in December on Trip.com while it was October, because I may need to apply for a Schengen visa soon. The site showed free cancellation that day, so I wanted to try it and check whether it really was free. A minute after booking, I discovered the reservation couldn't be cancelled. I contacted the hotel several times straight away and asked the platform's customer service to speak with them too. The response was that cancellation wasn't possible and there was no room to negotiate anything, even a partial refund. I later realized the platform may not have updated the hotel's cancellation policy in time, which misled me. I feel the platform's mistake made me a victim too, but the hotel's unfriendly, uncooperative attitude surprised me. Now the money is wasted and I can only go and stay there. I can't imagine having a good experience after being treated this way.
