Les Deux Gares

The room was a bit small, but had what we needed for two days, and the bathroom was large and well equipped. Even so close to the station, it was really quiet. Getting to and from the hotel was easy. I'd stay again.

Feeling safe and well looked after mattered a lot to me, and I felt both throughout this stay. That made it much easier to relax. The team, from reception to housekeeping, were warm, professional and caring every time I spoke with them. Check-in and checkout were both smooth, and they answered my questions kindly. They also helped book a taxi and were flexible about it. I appreciated the complimentary tour guide offer, and my spa treatment was pleasant, with flexibility around it. My room was spotless, organized and spacious, with fresh sheets and towels and all the amenities ready. The heating and air conditioning worked perfectly. I was on the fifth floor and couldn't hear the train at all. Sometimes there was chatter or shower noise from next door, but otherwise it was very quiet. The hotel is between two train stations and several lines that take you to the main spots. Le Marias, with lots of good shops and food, was a 20 min walk away. A few small things: the shower temperature went from very hot to less warm, though I prefer warm water and it didn't bother me. The elevator was slow now and then but worked fine. A little scented oil such as lavender in the spa steam room might be nice. Those details didn't affect my amazing stay. The kindness of the whole team made it memorable.

We had a lovely stay in a nicely decorated hotel, with a comfortable bed and a good location. Friday night was the problem: street noise kept me awake until 1:30am, which wasn't great when I wanted an early start to explore the next day. Saturday was fine. Maybe some rooms are better insulated than others, and higher up might be quieter. Thanks for a nice stay otherwise.

This was my second stay here. On my birthday, two days after checking in, I changed my earrings and left them on top of my jewellery purse. The next day I went to put them on and they were gone. I knew exactly where I'd left them. Reception told me to ask Housekeeping, but nothing turned up. After two emails, the hotel said I must have lost them before check-in. I hadn't, I was wearing them two days into the stay. The email response didn't feel caring, and staff just tell you to email instead of dealing with anything. The spa also costs 39 Euros to use. I enjoyed staying here until the hotel accused me of misplacing something that was clearly done by the hotel.
