Mama Shelter Paris East

The restaurant on the ground floor serves good food, but it gets crowded in the evenings and the wait can be very long. Service was average. The hotel has a dark look, and the rooms felt dim. I would’ve liked the option of brighter lights. There were no complimentary coffee or tea packs in the room, and a large sofa near the entrance was torn or badly maintained, which wasn’t a good first impression. I stayed a few nights in January. It’s in a good location, around 45 minutes from the airport in the afternoon.

We found lovely hidden spots in the neighborhood, including gardens, parks, coffee shops, and restaurants. The area is especially convenient if you’re going to Père Lachaise, though otherwise the Metro is a bit of a walk, especially with luggage. We ate at the restaurant one evening and liked the food. We couldn’t get a table as walk-ins because it was fully booked, but the service at the bar was okay. We’d stayed here years ago and remembered it as a good location. This time, after recently staying at the brand new Mama Shelter in Zurich, the Paris east hotel felt disappointing. The lobby, restaurant, and room were all dark and gloomy. It was decorated for Halloween, but that didn’t change much. There was also a constant humming or buzzing noise that sounded for a few seconds every 10-15 minutes. It was really annoying, especially at night. We had a great experience overall, but I don’t think we’d return.

The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I’ve had in France. It’s a cool hotel, with a big restaurant and bar, though it seemed more suited to couples than families. I first thought it was a bit far out, but liked the area and its lovely-looking cafes. The Metro was a 10-minute walk away, on a well-connected line, so getting around worked out fine.

Always happy to stay with Mama. I’ve been here a few times already and will keep coming back. You feel the vibe as soon as you walk through the door at the birthplace of Mama Shelter. Big thanks to Axel, who’s always kind and happy to help with whatever I need. See you soon!
