Hotel Marena

A small fridge for cold drinks would be a nice addition. That was my only suggestion. The room had two windows, which made a cute photo possible: one person by each window with a cup of coffee and the Paris street behind them. I was on the fourth floor, and the elevator was spacious, mirrored and worked perfectly. The room was clean and newly renovated. Although the windows faced the street, it was quiet inside, with no outside or neighboring-room noise. Thick blackout curtains helped me sleep well. Clara and Adele at reception were polite and attentive. Check-in and checkout were organized so efficiently that each took just a couple of minutes. Water, cola and juice were always available in the lobby, along with coffee, tea and madeleines, a lovely treat after traveling. It's a stylish, cozy hotel with plenty of character. It's rated three stars, but its service and atmosphere beat many four-star hotels.

The shower was my main complaint. Its small entrance had no door or curtain, so water flooded the floor whenever I used it. The hotel seems to overlook how water bounces off a person into the bathroom. The wall-mounted hairdryer, nicknamed the 'elephant,' was basically useless. Still, the room was comfortable and nicely decorated, with a desk, kettle, TV, open clothes hanger and free WiFi. There were no English channels and no luggage rack, so my suitcase stayed open on the floor. I booked a comfort single for three nights and was surprised it was practically a double, at a decent price for expensive Paris. The compact bathroom was otherwise fine. The hotel is in the 9th arrondissement, about equally distant from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est, which is convenient when arriving by Eurostar or another train into northern Paris. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful, and there is a small lobby elevator. Breakfast was included and had a good continental selection. The stylish breakfast room looks out over the street. There were also complimentary afternoon drinks and snacks in the lobby each day. I'd stay here again next time I'm in Paris.

Rooms are quite small, but they're comfortable and tastefully done. For the quality, I think the price is excellent. It's a delightful little hotel in a perfect central Paris location, and a big plus is that they offer free early check-in when a room is already available.

Breakfast was simple, but adequate for the price and enough to get the day started. The towels were especially nice, better than in some five-star hotels, honestly. I stayed one night in September 2025 and had a really nice experience. The staff were super friendly, and my room was spacious, quiet and very clean. The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from Gare Du Nord, which worked well since I left my suitcases there until I had to leave Paris. Most of the main attractions are walkable, and the area seemed safe with plenty of restaurants. I'd definitely consider staying again. Thanks for having me.
