Hotel Regence Paris

The staff were so welcoming to my little girl, chatting with her each morning and making her feel special. My mother, daughter, and I stayed in August, and all of us had a lovely time. The rooms were clean and nicely presented, and we found the location excellent. The hotel is old, but it has real charm and is decorated beautifully. After seeing the mixed reviews, we still can't understand why some people were so harsh.

I tried to book through agoda with free cancellation, but the room became unavailable when I selected it. I tried again with free cancellation, then suddenly the full amount was withdrawn and the booking had become non-refundable. I contacted agoda right away, but they said they couldn't do anything. The hotel didn't know my name or ask for a booking number, and refused to refund me even when I offered to let them keep some of the money and return part of it. They hung up on me. I had a very bad experience and wouldn't advise anyone to book somewhere that treats customers this way and provides such poor service.

They described our room as “huge” and said it had a big balcony, but both the room and balcony were tiny. The plugs were inconvenient, and we had to leave our keys at the front desk whenever we went out, which didn't suit us. The reception felt very off, the lobby didn't feel like a hotel lobby, and the room looked nothing like the pictures or elegant at all. The elevator needs maintenance, and the place needs renovation. I wouldn't recommend it, even at a fair price.

The staff were all pleasant, and getting around was easy: bus stops and the Metro are nearby, along with restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, and a laundromat just a minute away. But the room wasn't clean. There was dust under the bed and on the bathroom pipes, the toilet should be replaced, and the toilet brush needs to be thrown out. I didn't see an air-conditioner or a fire alarm, and the room walls are covered in fabric. The bathroom fan needed cleaning and wasn't effective, and the refrigerator wasn't effective either. I got the impression management is cutting costs and the housekeeping workload may be too much.
