For the price, this felt like a 2 star experience at 3 star prices, and the hotel had little goodwill or attention to detail. The location was quiet, affordable, and convenient, but this isn't a 4 star hotel or stay. The owner seems to have chosen not to invest in upkeep. Our bedroom and bathroom were shabby: a chipped nightstand missing its handle, an outlet coming out of the wall, plastic sconces, and a dusty, dirty trapdoor above the closet. The cheap foam-stuffed pillows were fabric squares; one split open, so we used a safety pin we happened to have. The bathroom sink had a large old crack. The half-glass shower over the tub leaked so badly that the floor got soaked, and the wood panel on the tub was rotting. Breakfast service depended on who was working. The blonde woman was sweet, helpful, and gave great service. The woman with glasses did only the minimum cleanup. At 9:30 am, though breakfast ran until 11, the orange juice carafe was empty and she said there was no more. The same happened with bacon on another day, and there were no water glasses. She was rude and clattered dishes so loudly it seemed meant to make people leave. On checkout morning there was no hot water, so we took cold showers. We told the man at the desk, who said they'd “put something up.” If we'd already gone to our room for the night, we wouldn't have seen it. A 4 star hotel would have put a notice under every door. He didn't apologize for the inconvenience and was quick to say it was “Not Us,” blaming the city. After nine nights without any complaints from us, we didn't even get a “hope you enjoyed your stay” or a thank-you, just a mumbled “au revoir” as we left. There are many lovely 3 star hotels in the 6th. They might cost 50 more euro a night, but that would be money well spent.

I've stayed at Hotel Relais Saint-Sulpice twice, in May 2024 and March 2025, and it felt like coming home. I don't usually write reviews, but this time I had to. Emmanuel at the concierge desk recognized me as soon as I came back. He remembered my name and where I was from, and had adapter outlets ready without me asking. I'm American. He speaks perfect English, has an incredible memory, and is great with my children. He made everything feel personal and easy. The hotel provided a playpen for my infant daughter, which meant a lot. The rooms are huge for a boutique hotel in central Paris, spotless, peaceful, and so quiet I didn't hear a thing. It really felt like a sanctuary. The area around Saint-Sulpice is beautiful and quiet, tucked away enough to feel private but still close to everything. I miss being there. When I return to Paris for a third time, I won't look anywhere else. If it's your first time in Paris and you're unsure where to stay, trust me, this is the place. You won't be disappointed!

The room was pleasant: Room 20 had a lovely garden view from the second and top floor. I left the window wide open, looking down onto a colorful green courtyard, day and night. Other rooms by the alley looked awful, and I'd avoid those next to the elevator. But the location itself is down a narrow, dark alley behind the St. Sulpice church, with no sun. Walk a block to get the neighborhood atmosphere. The lobby was far inferior to the other nearby hotels. The breakfast surprised us in a good way, with kitchen staff making excellent scrambled eggs and bacon. We have stayed around St. Sulpice and St. Germaine for 40+ years, mostly at the two different nearby Hotel Odeons, so I'll compare them. The front desk was mixed. Soel was easily the best representative among all three hotels, genuinely friendly and sympathetic when we had a bad experience. The evening woman didn't seem to care. I waited at the desk for ages while she chatted and ignored me. On arrival, we learned from a notice taped to the elevator that hot water would be shut off for 4-6 hours during the day. Then there was no hot water the next day either, and cold showers were no fun. Management did nothing and offered no apology. We had to ask Soel to request even a free breakfast from the manager. The manager or owner could have planned ahead to make it up to guests. There are only around 24+ (?) rooms. I won't return. The two nearby Odeon Hotels are better overall. I gave Relais a chance, but management didn't deserve it.

This is an older hotel, but our room was clean, the service was fantastic, and the front desk team did a lot to make our stay pleasant. Kudos to Emmanuel, Gina ( Jinane) and Mirko. We felt safe staying here, my son and I, and could walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and sights. Great hotel and location.

I arrived late and the staff greeted me in good English, which made me feel welcome. They gave me the WiFi details and breakfast information without waiting for me to ask. The decor was quirky, cute, and retro, with a garden theme. There were copies of the New York Times and le figaro by the lift, and a modern elevator served every floor. The hotel had lovely views from its windows: my bedroom looked toward the entrance and roof of St sulpice church, while the corridor windows faced an ivy-covered courtyard. The location opposite St sulpice church was excellent, within walking distance of a carrefour supermarket, Luxembourg train station, buses, the pantheon, and other places. Check-in at 2 pm and checkout at noon are generous hours for business and international travelers. The on-site restaurant served breakfast from 7 to 11, and would bring it to the room. The WiFi was fast and worked well. The room had a small toilet room, a bathroom, and a bedroom. It was cute and quirky but dated: wallpaper was peeling, and dusty fabric tassels were glued to the top of the wall. The hotel smelled a bit musty or mildewy, and there was a lot of dust. If you have asthma or allergies, I'd bring medicine and open a window. A large wardrobe held sealed slippers, hangers, and a combination safe. In the toilet room, the toilet hadn't been cleaned and had a large brown mess in it, though it flushed away easily. A hole in the ceiling dripped water on me while I was using it, possibly waste water from the toilet above. Gross. Opposite was a very nice bathroom with a bathtub, sink, mirror, folding magnifying mirror, hairdryer, shaver socket, lots of quality l'occitane toiletries, soft clean white towels, and a towel warmer. The lighting was bright for makeup, and the hairdryer worked very well. The bathtub was dirty too, with a strange black thread and bits of metal, but rinsing them away was easy. Between the bathroom and bedroom there was a very comfortable jacquard chair. The air-conditioning controls were there too, and the system was excellent: I could set it from 15°C to 30°C, and the room temperature changed within a couple of minutes. In the bedroom, the bed was clean and comfortable, with five working outlets, including one beside it. There was a table and two chairs, a modern electric kettle, rooibos, earl grey and breakfast tea, milk, sugar, wooden stirrers, and a remote for the large wall TV. The kettle and remote were dusty, which made me unsure about the cleaning. The art and book wallpaper had a dated library theme, with cute animal lamps. There was also a phone to call reception. I'd look elsewhere before booking again because the room wasn't clean or well maintained. Nobody wants a pipe dripping on them in the toilet, dust everywhere, or leftover mess. If the hotel were refurbished and cleaned properly, it would be much better. If nowhere else were available, I'd return but would be cautious about cleanliness and maintenance. It's a shame, because the staff were nice, the hotel was beautiful, and the location was brilliant. With new cleaning staff and a refurbishment, it could be perfect. It was super cozy too.
