Residhome Paris Opéra Hotel

We had a lovely two-level room with a small sitting area and a fairly large bathroom. The view from the window was amazing, and the location was very central. There are lots of places to eat nearby and shops all around. The Louvre and the Seine are a 15-20 minute walk away, and you can walk to the Eiffel Tower too if you're keen.

The location was the one thing we liked. We'd booked this for six nights a few weeks ago, and the room looked nothing like the photos. Calling it four stars seems wrong to us, three at best. They apparently only clean rooms every five days for stays of five nights or longer. We ran out of coffee, shampoo and liquid bath soap, and asked reception several times for more. They took our room number and said someone would bring supplies, but nobody came. We only got them when the room was cleaned after night five, the night before we left. We don't need daily cleaning on trips, every two or three days is fine, but five days was ridiculous. They didn't replenish creamer or bar soap either, perhaps because we hadn't specifically asked. Please take the negative reviews seriously. The location was the only great part of our stay.

We realized at 9 PM that the air conditioning wasn't working. The room also looked nothing like the website photos. Reception said there were no other rooms, no fans, no service engineer and no manager available to help. It was 28°C inside, and my 13-year-old son developed a bad headache from the heat. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night. The staff didn't seem to care. The hotel refused even a partial refund, though they were supposed to provide one under EU law in a situation like this. Thankfully Hotels.com was much more helpful and refunded us. Given the misleading photos, broken AC, lack of help and refusal to honor basic consumer rights, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location is great for the price, but the room wasn't clean at all. It felt like nobody had been in there for a long time, and the room itself is very old.
