The room was small but cozy, and the hotel is beautiful with a wonderful staff. It's near the metro and RER, which made getting around the city easy, though it isn't centrally located. We didn't sleep well either night. In October the air conditioning in room 205 struggled even at its highest setting, leaving the room at 74 degrees at night. That felt warm with the heavy comforter, and when we asked for a lighter one the next day, we were told none was available. I can't imagine staying there in summer. At our arrival around 11am, nobody helped us up the stairs with our bags or opened the door. During our many later trips in and out, no one opened it either, even though a concierge and another person were always nearby. We can manage our own bags and doors, but expected a bit more from a 5-star hotel. The bar looks beautiful and I know the place is expensive, but $35 for a subpar Mai-tai-style drink seemed excessive. It may have had only 2oz of liquid, with five big ice cubes making it look like half a small glass was full.

Pilou ☺️ made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and gave us exceptional service. The hotel is an easy walk from the Eiffel Tower, and the rooms are beautifully appointed. I also had one of the best massages I've ever had. Breakfast at the restaurant was lovely, and the food and drinks at the Library Bar were amazing. Can't wait to come back soon for another 10/10 stay! 🐈⬛🍹🥃🧀

The people are what made Hotel Saint James special for us. Service was quick, warm, and often anticipatory, with little touches that felt almost magical. A bit impressive and mildly terrifying lol, in the best way. My wife and I came for our anniversary, and the whole stay felt like an experience, almost like immersive theater with us in the starring roles. They greeted us with a handwritten note and a bottle of wine that felt thoughtful and cinematic. The staff somehow paired real kindness with polished professionalism. At the Library Bar, with its dark wood, velvet chairs, and grand feel, we had chablis and a Croque monsieur. It was glorious. Breakfast in the dining room was another highlight: fresh pastries, carefully prepared eggs, and coffee that wiped away the jet lag and made mornings feel worthwhile. If Jay Gatsby and a Parisian philosopher opened a hotel together, I can imagine it being Hotel Saint James. It felt like a romantic Paris stage set where we were celebrated and spoiled, and maybe a little more French by the time we left. Thank You Hotel Saint James for restoring my faith in true hospitality!

We spent time at the pool and in the beautiful garden. The hotel also left us a Petite Prince book in the evening, which I loved, and arranged a birthday cake for our daughter as we celebrated her 10th birthday. Thanks!

The staff were great and very accommodating, and the hotel itself is beautiful and well located. Still, a shirt went missing from our room during the stay. It was peculiar, and when I asked after we got home, they couldn't find it. At checkout I was asked to tip on the total hotel bill, starting at 10%, which would have meant thousands of dollars. I declined without any issue, but asking in the first place lowered my opinion of the property. I was happy to tip housekeeping and service staff directly during the stay.
