The People - Paris Bercy - Hostel

The rooftop views of the Eiffel Tower and city skyline were fantastic, and there was a comfy common area for working or hanging out. The People had everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen. The rooms were surprisingly spacious for Paris, with enough room to move around and spread out our luggage, and the beds were so comfortable we slept like babies every night. Staff were incredibly friendly and made check-in easy. It’s a short walk to train and bus stations, too. We had a fabulous stay and would happily return. Highly recommend it as a place to stay in Paris!

The staff were what made the stay great. They were really friendly and even let me use the common area after check-out. The place is a short walk from Bercy bus station, in a great neighborhood, and has all the amenities you’d expect. I liked having a locker right beside the bed. I was surprised to find the bathroom was private for my room, even though it was advertised as shared. The separate toilet and shower were a bit of a mixed bag, but it worked out fine. Breakfast was just okay.

The people in my dorm were the least considerate I’ve ever encountered. There was loud door slamming and suitcase noise at night and early in the morning. I think each hostel attracts a certain mix of guests, so just consider this a heads-up. Still, I loved the bed setup. A room card opens the locker beside the bed, which is big enough for a handbag, and there are two shelves for toiletries and makeup. There’s another locker big enough for a carry-on and backpack. You can buy a lock and towel, but neither is provided. It’s a little odd that the toilet is separate and has no sink. In my eight-person dorm, I didn’t have to wait for the shower, though I slept and got up early. It’s 5-8 minutes from Line 6 and Line 8, with lots of buses nearby. Most attractions are about 30-40 minutes away. The bed was the best designed of any hostel I’ve stayed in across Europe.

I stayed in a six-bed women’s room that was lovely and really clean. The cot curtains block out all the light and give you lots of privacy. Having our own bathroom and shower in the room was a big plus, and there’s a balcony too. The hostel itself is beautiful and very clean, and the staff are always welcoming and super friendly.
