Breakfast has a limited selection, but the ingredients were good and the coffee tasted great. I’d have liked oat milk, which I prefer in coffee to soy, and some fresh vegetables. The rooms have what you need for a 3 star hotel, and the staff were all friendly and did a great job. The place has been fully renovated and is managed very well, so don’t go by the older reviews. I’d happily return.

I had a great stay. Nation station gave me all the main connections I needed for what I’d planned. The only thing I missed was having a fridge in the room.

The one bright spot was a young Black woman at reception. She was great, despite the way management is running the place into the ground. The rest of the experience was a mess, and I’d save my money and stay somewhere else. There are better hotels in Paris at this price. The renovation is misleading. Most of the walls, doors, and infrastructure are old and just repainted. The room had no small lights or bathroom plugs, and the wall mounted hairdryer looked like it was from the 1980s and barely worked on long hair. Reception had only one plug in dryer for the entire hotel. I had to go downstairs with wet hair, borrow it for 15 minutes, then return it. Cold water never got cold. There was no double glazing, so road noise was awful day and night. The AC was off during the day, and the room became boiling in the heatwave. The shower was tiny and uncomfortable even for me as a petite woman. At night, noise from nearby bars and shops came through the shower vents. The elevator was dirty and smelly, with no up/down system, and the unrenovated stairs were narrow and dangerous. Breakfast was cheap and low quality, with vile orange juice and eggs, surprising in central Paris where good produce is everywhere. Plates and cutlery were dirty, and when I told a staff member, she did nothing. The dirty kitchenware issue went unaddressed for all five days. Towels were old and dirty every day. Kitchen and cleaning staff argued in front of everyone at breakfast, and later the manager yelled at kitchen staff in the lobby in front of everyone. One late morning, while we were discussing our day trips at reception, the receptionist told us to lower our voices. I’m not American, and we weren’t yelling. One morning, electrical work woke me at 7am with loud noise and someone on a crane outside my window. My friend asked to keep medication in a staff fridge, and they didn’t respect basic privacy about it. After seeing how everything else was handled, I don’t know why I expected them to manage that well.

I got a small single room, and for the price I paid it was bigger than I expected. The hotel is in a nice, friendly area, and the staff were very friendly and spoke English really well. There are three metro lines close by that can take you practically anywhere in Paris, so it’s a good deal. I’ll definitely come back.
