Hotel Transcontinental

I stayed for 2 nights and found only basic room facilities: no kettle, coffee or tea, bottled water, or fridge. It does feel like a 2-star hotel. Before booking, the listing showed 4 stars, but there was a sign at the entrance showing 2. That's misleading information on the booking app. Booking platforms should review and update the rating so customers know what they're paying for.

I can't recommend this hotel. When I checked out, I left my luggage there and found the storage room unlocked and accessible to anyone. That was alarming, especially as I'd bought expensive bags during my trip. The key card process was also poorly handled: guests had to say their room number aloud at the front desk, with no proper check. Another guest was given a key for a room that wasn't theirs, and fortunately reported it. I was also handed the wrong key despite stating my room number clearly. During my stay I developed rashes on my arms and legs, which I presume came from an insect bite in the bed. A week after leaving, things hadn't improved: the inflammation had worsened and I'm being treated at a dermatology clinic. If the marks leave lasting scars, who will take responsibility? The room was extremely dusty, and apart from the sheets, the duvets and other bedding smelled old and musty. I strongly believe this caused my condition.

The room was small, but cosy, and I could open the windows all the way. The shower worked well, with steady temperature and good pressure. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including madeleines, pastries, cheese, coffee, milk, and juice, although the restaurant staff could be rather surly. Ignore the two stars and look at the value. I enjoyed this hotel more than some pricier ones.

Room 408 was great, and the key issue was no big deal. Most times when we returned, they handed us the key. We bought breakfast there because, well, Paris. The area suited us perfectly, with two Metro lines nearby and restaurants on the street. It's a fantastic place to stay, and we'll be back on our next Paris trip.
