WS Notre-Dame - Jussieu

The morning of our stay, the property contacted me through Booking.com to say we’d be staying in a construction site and the room wouldn’t be ready until after 5 p.m. I’d paid in advance for an event and dinner and needed the room by 3, as advertised. They only responded through WhatsApp and took their time. With nowhere else to go, I went to the property with my international luggage. Dirt and mud covered the path to the door. In the rain, there was no way I was dragging my heavy bags through it. They eventually gave me another location and entry codes, saying check-in would be at 3. I thought I could drop my bags and check the place first. I spent money on a taxi across Paris, only to find the second property was worse. The corridor smelled of mould and felt extremely claustrophobic. The walls were damp, as was the mat in front of the tiny lift, which smelled even worse inside. I have asthma and started feeling uneasy and light-headed just from being in the corridor. There was no phone reception, so I left immediately. The place felt unhygienic and unsatisfactory. I contacted the company on WhatsApp straight away and explained the lack of reception and my asthma. They seemed to understand and said they’d process a refund. I booked another hotel and never stayed at either property. Since then, I’ve had to chase the refund every day. It’s been two weeks and they’re refusing to pay. Their explanations keep changing: they thought I’d stayed there, then said I’d demanded early check-in, then said I hadn’t followed their instructions to go to the other location. I have screenshots showing what they said. The online photos of both properties are extremely misleading. They look nothing like the listings, and when I complained, the company added a new exterior photo that still doesn’t reflect the construction dump it is. I still haven’t received my refund and am left dealing with them every day. They also won’t put me through to a manager. This ruined my holiday. Avoid all “WS” property locations.
