Best Western Continental Pau Centre

The bed was really comfortable, and I loved the pillows. Our room was large, and the shower worked well, though its wall bracket wouldn’t hold its position, so we couldn’t adjust the height. Toiletries were basic, but at least they were provided. I didn’t think breakfast was worth the price. It was a very simple buffet with little pastries, bread, cheese, ham, and yoghurt. In France I expect a proper croissant.

The building itself is beautiful, from the start of the last century, and the hotel is near the city center with good lunch and dinner options close by. There’s nowhere just inside the entrance to stop and unload your bags. The front desk staff were generally efficient, and the room was quite large, which I appreciated. But the cleaning had been poor, with what looked like bits of bread and other food left behind. There was no air conditioning, and with the room above 29°C, even the fan they supplied didn’t let us sleep well. Breakfast was average. My overall impression was negative, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

My room had a nice view over the city center, and breakfast was good quality even though the choice was limited. The location is right in the center, near shops, restaurants, and attractions. The room was huge, with a bathroom to match. It’s an old building, though, and some things didn’t work. The radiator control was broken, so I couldn’t turn the heat off. I ended up sleeping with the balcony door open to get some cool air in.

Our room is enormous and has a private balcony, and the staff have been friendly and very helpful. The location suits us perfectly, with the city’s attractions and events all within walking distance.
