Hotel l'Adrech de Lagas

The dinner was good, and half board made that a nice part of the stay. I also liked the hotel’s traditional character, which has an old-time feel. But the rooms look a bit dated, and noise travels easily. I was left wanting more for the price: the hotel’s position within the resort and its modest style didn’t seem to match what I expected. My stay was neither good nor bad, just average, and below what I thought the price called for.

The restaurant was pleasant and family-run, with generous portions at a reasonable price, and the manager was very friendly. I ended up satisfied with my stay after having hesitated over the reviews. The rooms are large and look out over the slopes and car park, but they’re somewhat dated. The bathtub has no shower curtain, and without auxiliary heating I had to leave the heat on full blast for two hours before I could shower. The TV was a tiny square screen with no external input, something I’d never seen before. The price felt high for a small ski resort, and there were three power cuts during the evening.

Noëlle, the owner, deserves a big thank you for being so professional and kind. The hotel team took wonderful care of us during the health restrictions, making sure my wife, our 20-month-old daughter, and I were comfortable. The hotel is still in its original state, but it’s charming and very, very well maintained. Our south-facing room was spacious, with a breathtaking view of the snow-covered slopes at the bottom of the resort.

For one night, this place does the job, especially since there aren’t many hotels in Valberg. The welcome was pleasant and the simple room was clean, with no complaints there. The mountain decor is typical, but a little dated, and the place could use a facelift.
