Eurotel

We stayed for one night in April and were asked to pay a deposit that was never returned. To me, keeping it amounted to theft. When we called in the days afterward to get our money back, the reception staff made fun of us. It says a lot about the hotel's low standards that it was hard to find anyone who spoke even a little English.

Breakfast the next morning had one of the best selections I've seen in France. I left thinking the stay was fair value, not great but not bad, until checkout: they charged a €12.50 surcharge and the desk staff couldn't explain it or help much. I didn't have time to argue, so I paid and left. The room itself was a reasonable size, with a comfortable bed. The hotel is a bit dated, but seemed well maintained. I booked dinner, bed and breakfast at the last minute, and the stay was otherwise fine. At dinner, I asked what was included in the meal deal. It took several tries to make myself understood. My French is only school level, but when booking I made sure to check that the staff spoke English. The waiter gestured for me to choose from the menu, so I picked something ordinary, not the most expensive or anything silly. My starter was hot cheese, just as ordered, and the dessert was fine. The small steak was tough and unseasoned, and its sauce was cold. It wasn't a great meal, but not bad enough to send back. I seriously question whether the staff can speak English at a level you could call speaking English. As an overnight hotel, it's fine if nothing goes wrong, but don't take the meal deal. I won't be back.

I booked this place to make catching my 6 a.m. flight easier, but the shuttle doesn't run that early. I had to book a taxi for €30 to travel 1.1 miles, which was ridiculous. The Wi-Fi was unreliable too. Those are two solid reasons I can't recommend the hotel.

The main drawback was how unpredictable the prices for coffee and beer were, almost like staff were guessing. Otherwise, it had a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly staff and a great head waiter, Alberte, who made an effort to welcome us. There was a good daily menu at sensible prices for lunch and dinner, plus an à la carte menu for more choice. You could eat indoors or outside, or sit comfortably by the pool with a coffee, wine, or beer.
