Hotel Chantafred

I’m really glad I found Chantafred. The team on site were friendly and welcoming, and everything was very clean and well organized. It’s easy to reach by public transport. Next door I had a simple but perfect burger and fries, and the homemade mayo was priceless. Thank you.

I’ve just arrived and am already stunned by how badly the staff treated me. The manager recently spat in my face, which felt like a blatant show of power and self-importance. I was furious, and that unnecessary harassment by Pierre is why I’m writing this review. The food was sickening. I tried every dish, and they were all burnt, raw, or rotten, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend the restaurant. We’re posh Englishmen and wanted subtitles on the TV, but the hotel still can’t provide them. There were only cigarettes outside. Please sort this out. I won’t be back.

The hotel is okay, but staying on a Monday was awkward: all the local restaurants were closed, as was the bar attached to the hotel. Of all the rooms, I got the one next to the hotel laundry, so I had to put up with the washers and dryers and the smell of washing. There are signs saying English is spoken, but maybe one or two words have been said in English.

It’s really not close to Bordeaux, but it has its own Quebecois charm. I can’t help thinking of the beer glass I encountered.
