ibis Bordeaux Pessac Route des Vins Hotel

For a night on the way somewhere else, this is a good value option if things stay as they are. The bed and toilet were clean and fine, the Wi-Fi was very good, and there were lots of TV channels. The service staff were very kind and read and followed the notes we left, thank you for that. The DeArte Restaurant was better than the other branches of this chain I’ve tried in France, and there’s also a nice fish restaurant two minutes’ walk away. You get what you pay for, but the price and quality match up well.

I’d booked a room on an upper floor, only to find the elevator out of order. There was a lot of new machinery on the top floor, so I suspect the lift was already broken when I booked and that the hotel should have told me. In my view, paying full price with such a major inconvenience isn’t acceptable.

It’s handy for a stop on a long drive, right by the motorway, but I’m sure there are better-value places with a higher standard. The room was clean, though in terrible condition, and the reception area smelled like a dirty toilet.

The bathroom feels cramped, especially with the toilet squeezed into a corner, and there isn’t much light. The rooms are small too, and the beds may be a bit short if you’re tall.
