Hotel Macchie E Fiori

We were six at dinner and ordered the house specialty, veal with prosciutto and mushroom sauce. It was a hit with everyone. The host was wonderful, and the location near the airport worked great. A lovely find.

The room was tiny, and the air conditioning didn't work. I told the landlord when we arrived; he came to look at it but didn't offer us another room. With the window open to sleep, rain got in and soaked several things underneath it, and flies came in too. At breakfast I brought up what had happened, and the landlord just said, “There are worse things in life.” We paid €128 and expected proper accommodation. The value for money was poor, and I wouldn't recommend it to family or friends.

The restaurant staff were friendly, and there's a small outdoor play area for kids. It's kid-friendly, though dinner was mediocre and overpriced. We stayed one night because it's close to Figar airport. Our booking included breakfast and requested a baby bed, but the bed had been given to another family, so they brought us a long, flat mattress for the baby instead. The room was very small. After checkout, we noticed we'd been charged for breakfast. When my husband went back to the front desk, the woman tried to charge us for the “baby bed” to avoid refunding the breakfast money. It felt pretty shady. My husband stood his ground, and she reluctantly returned the money. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

There was no information ahead of time, and check-in was awful. Although check-in was supposed to be available until 11pm, everything was dark when we arrived, with no signs or service. We called reception, but the woman didn't even know the English word “key.” She spoke no English and wasn't friendly. I also had to clean excrement from the tiny toilet in our room. A complete disaster.
