The owners, Sylvie and her son Johann, were a pleasure to talk with, and Edward the dog and the cat made the place feel even more welcoming. We had the house to ourselves one night and ate in the common space, which felt homey. The quiet and the beautiful views of the Cave of Mary Magdalene and the forest behind were such a gift. At first the silence felt startling, then it was hard to imagine going back to city noise. We stayed several days at Maison Rouge with my husband and another couple who had a car. You really do need a car here, since the nearest towns are a little way off and that's where the food is. The stay itself was relaxing, and the house is charming. Our simple, lovely room had a clean bathroom and stayed warm through several chilly, rainy days. We didn't get much use out of the terrace in that weather, though it seems like a nice spot when it's warmer. The breakfasts were lovely, and the space was a pleasure to spend time in. We also did several hikes from the property, or a short three-minute drive down the road. Merci beaucoup for a beautiful experience!

You can walk to ask if those right from Sylvie's house, and the mountain is visible from your room. Her home is beautiful, spacious, and well placed for exploring La Sainte Baume mountain, grotto, Cave of Eggs, and Chapelle de Pilon. Sylvie is kind and fun, and a wonderful hostess. Edouard is the sweetest dog, and breakfast is delicious. You'll need a car to get here. The shower has wonderfully hot water and great pressure, the wifi is good, and there's a huge parking area. We loved the lovely back deck and views, and would absolutely stay at Maison Rouge again.

I only have one small suggestion: the mattress on the twin bed in the end room could be better, though I'm admittedly spoiled at home. It wouldn't put me off staying there. Sylvie was a perfect hostess, smart and classy, and I loved everything about her. Her spacious home at the foot of a mountain is charming and inviting. I enjoyed the classic French breakfasts, and having Edward the dog around made the stay feel complete.

Sylvie looked after us so well, even driving to a local bakery one morning to bring back fresh bread when the power was out. Her breakfasts were the best, and she accommodated my vegan diet too. La Maison Rouge is a beautiful home in a lovely location, and I had a wonderful stay. Thank you, Sylvie.

I fell in love with Edward during my stay, and Sylvie was an amazing hostess. My bedroom was very large, with a comfortable bed and the most gorgeous view. I absolutely loved my time at La Maison Rouge and hope to visit again one day.
