Residence La Borde

We came back for a second visit, which probably says enough! The garden, pool, and delicious food all add to the stay, and you can enjoy some time on your own or go with the hostess to see places from the mountains down to the sea. There's also the charm of an old French house, beautiful surroundings, and very welcoming hosts. Definitely recommend!

Margarita's way of seeing the country is thoughtful, attentive, and so kind. As they say, you see a place through the eyes of whoever shows it to you, and with her, you can't go wrong. She knows a lot of history and has a wonderful feel for suggesting cultural or food experiences. You can ask her to be your guide, stay somewhere quiet, or come with a group for a celebration. There are also retreats, walks through the landscape, and theater and art gatherings, among other things. This is Margarita and Serge's villa, where you get a taste of everyday French life: homemade breakfasts and dinners, conversations in different languages, and jam and pie made from a great-grandmother's recipe. Around you are open fields, farms, distilleries, and all kinds of domestic and wild animals. I haven't even begun to list everything, and those are only some of the impressions I came away with.

It's rural and out of the way, between Castelnaudry and Mirepoix, with a relaxed, artsy, no-fuss feel. Our room had a mix of old and modern objects, all sorts of interesting bits and pieces. There's a small outdoor pool too. Serge is a charming photographer, and his engaging partner is a great storyteller. They took the time to sit and chat with us. We spent eight days here, and each day the owner took us to three or four sights. He's a really good guide, and it made for an amazing experience. The studio apartment was comfortable, clean, and cozy, with a kitchen and a huge panoramic window. The owners are caring and friendly, and both the breakfasts and dinners were delicious. There are lots of interesting, unique places nearby, and the scenery is beautiful. We highly recommend staying here and hope to come back.
