In November, we picked the small two-bed chalet just for the fun of trying it. It felt like a mix of camping and staying in a hotel, and the open-air bathroom might not suit everyone at that time of year. We loved it, though. The hosts were superb and clearly proud of their Breton hideaway. Even on a rainy weekend there was a little sunshine, and the overnight stay was lovely, with a fabulous breakfast. Rustic, but comfortable where it matters. I imagine it must be heavenly in summer.

We have lots of happy memories of our comfortable little home at Ferme Mellon. The stay worked perfectly for visiting family, and after the long trip it was lovely to have a drink at the outdoor bar in such nice surroundings. We also treated ourselves to the tasty breakfast on our first morning. One evening, the whole family got together for homemade pizzas. The tables were beautifully set with carafes of wine, and we picked and mixed the ingredients cooked by Jorge, our host.

Such a lovely place to unwind. Work was still going on, but it remained a peaceful retreat.
