We came for a few days with the kids to enjoy the pools in the scorching August heat, and that worked out well. The site is green, with shady, spacious pitches, nice lakes and several pools. There are plenty of activities for children, and the staff were very welcoming and polite. It was busy at peak times, which seemed understandable for August. We'd discovered this place through the Les Castles group and expected a castle and a proper restaurant for adults, as at other sites we'd visited in the group. There isn't a castle here, and the restaurant is really just a cafeteria serving pizza, burgers and salads. If you're staying longer, there's very little outside the site. The nearest village is about 4.5 km away, so walking there in the heat isn't practical.

We stayed for two weeks with our two young kids and didn't feel we were missing anything. The team put on lots of activities each day. The campsite is lovely and very green, and the trees kept our mobile home shaded so it didn't get too hot, even on hot days. If the weather turns bad, there are several castles nearby to visit, and Orléans is easy to reach too.

Rikus, the reception manager, was ready to help whenever we needed it and made the stay more interesting. Our van was clean, well equipped and roomy enough for three adults. The facilities were clean too, including all three pools, which were exceptionally clean. It's a great site with a bit of everything, though the campsite signs could be clearer and easier to see.

The restaurant and bar service could have been better, but the campsite itself was okay. The outdoor pool has two kinds of flooring. The brick weave section was fine, while the glued-together gravel-like surface was very painful to walk on, and would be painful for a child who fell on it.

The setting is beautiful, and there's plenty for children to do. We'd definitely go back. The restaurant was the letdown: the choice was very limited, and the burger, nuggets and what was supposed to be Caesar salad all arrived at once. The salad was mostly lettuce with croutons, warm tomatoes and coated pieces of chicken. The nuggets and chips came covered in tomato sauce, which I don't like, so I had to scrape it off.
