Belle-Isle sur Risle - Chateau Hotel & Spa

The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and the property is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The food was amazing, so try it all if you can. I stayed here for 10 days with work colleagues. The staff were kind, professional and dedicated throughout, treating us like old friends. They went out of their way several times to make the trip feel special, and we appreciated it a lot. I really enjoyed the stay and will definitely come back.

We spent most of our time in the spa and pool area, using the hot tub with its massage jets and little waterfall. There were also comfortable wooden reclining chairs where you could lie back and read. We had a lovely, generous breakfast the next morning, with bacon, cheese, meats, scrambled or boiled eggs, and delicious croissants and pain au chocolats. We really enjoyed it, so I’d recommend booking breakfast with your stay. Our three nights went by too quickly, since we were travelling onward. A longer visit would’ve been nice. The owner or staff checked in with us each day about our stay and the food, especially with the pregnancy. The journey started badly when our car broke down, but things turned around when we reached this beautiful chateau. We’d booked half board and stayed in touch with Belle Isle sur Risle about arriving in time for dinner. We got there at 10 pm and the owner and staff welcomed us warmly and helped us settle in after the stressful start. We mentioned that one of us was 31 weeks pregnant, and they changed the set menu to meet her needs, avoiding red meat, raw food and unpasteurized items. When I had cheese, they also brought a complimentary pear salad. It was really kind to feel listened to about food at such a stressful time. After our late dinner, they showed us to our room, which Belle Isle sur Risle upgraded because of the pregnancy. It was a lovely gesture, and the large room overlooked the beautiful island where the chateau sits. On Friday nights, there’s live piano music. Five stars for the service, kindness and help in our situation. We might come back with our baby girl next year. Thanks!

We had a perfect night here in July, with lovely weather. The garden is huge and beautiful, a great place to unwind, and we took a canoe out on the Risle. Our room was comfortable, and the indoor and outdoor pools and spa were excellent. I stayed with my wife and daughter.

The dinner was fantastic, and the chefs were amazing. I also enjoyed a swim in the pools, and the staff were fantastic too. It’s a great spot on its own island, with a mature garden designed by a famous garden designer. I only stopped for a short visit and wish I’d had more time to explore the area. A few things could be improved: the rooms could use a refresh, and my room could’ve had air conditioning or more windows that open. The gym area also needs some attention. Thank you.
