The welcome was friendly and helpful, and the room looked out onto lovely trees, much like the photos suggest. It was spacious, with a huge comfortable bed. There's no separate walk-in shower, but the bath with a jacuzzi was a fun alternative. A charming, classic place with a different feel.

We picked a holiday week to visit, and most of Pontivy was shut, so we spent ages looking for a bar. None we found had a garden as lovely as the hotel's. The garden itself is astounding, with space to tuck away the car, and the hotel sits right in the centre of Imperial Pontivy. The women who run it were sweet and helpful, and there was a fine choice of cold beers. The bar inside felt a bit poky, formal and underused, though. Breakfast was fun, and the attic rooms looked spotless and recently refurbished. Old-world charm all around.

Private parking is available for a small extra fee. This is a classic old French hotel in the very centre of Pontivy, with high ceilings, stylish decor and a bar.

They really couldn't do enough for us. Our room was huge, with high ceilings and a massive, comfortable bed. A great place to stop.
