Hotel Du Palais Bastia Centre

We made this our base for the whole Corsica trip and loved how central it was in Bastia, with everything walkable. The owner was genuinely sweet and welcoming, and it quickly felt like home. Our room fit two friends comfortably, with separate beds and a good shower in the bathroom. It was cleaned each day, and everything was tidy when we got back. Breakfast had fresh bread and pastries, eggs made any way, coffee and cheeses, with soy milk and soy yoghurt too. Plenty of choice for vegetarians.

We slept badly because our room, which faced the backyard, got extremely hot. The fan helped move some air, but not enough. The room itself was clean, modern and pleasant, and the staff gave us a warm welcome. It’s centrally located, with street parking, though you have to go up one floor after entering. Payment is by Amex or cash only.

The included breakfast was very good, and the price felt fair. We stayed one night in a clean, pleasant main room right in the city centre, within walking distance of both the port and the train station, where there’s a bus to the airport. The owner was friendly and helpful. Street noise came through, though, and the bathroom had a slightly odd smell and wasn’t completely clean. It was okay otherwise.

We’ll come back when we’re in Bastia. The host was really helpful and friendly, and spoke English perfectly. We liked the room, and breakfast was delicious. Best wishes, Fabian.
