Apartment Les Barcarelles

Set by a lake, it’s a lovely place to switch off from everyday life. This holiday residence is close to shops and lots of activities, including beaches, an amusement park, an adventure course, Aqualand, and a casino, all about five minutes away. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for peace and a change of scenery.

It feels more like a nursing home than a vacation place. The owners keep watching you, and the apartments are too small, uncomfortable, and unsanitary, with no peace. There are mice everywhere, and the caretaker might as well not be there. I strongly advise against staying here. At these rental prices, there are much better places in Barcares, closer to the sea.

Each apartment or house has its own parking space, which is a big plus. The development is calm and well placed for relaxing or exploring, with lake or pool views and long walks around the lake. You can go for runs or paddleboard there, and find places for a meal or drink within a 5-10 minute walk. There are plenty more restaurants and shops nearby too. The sea is a 15-20 minute walk or a 5-minute drive away, and the development sits at the entrance to the charming seaside resort of Le Barcarès.

Waking up to sunrise from the loggia was magic. Breakfast among the palm trees made it feel like Spain, even though we were still in France. What a dream location.
