We had a fabulous five days at La Vetta, me, my wife, our 21-year-old daughter, and our dog. I’d been puzzled by the mix of mostly 5-star and 1-star Google reviews, but I think I understand now. Some longtime campers seem unhappy about the shade lost when trees were cleared to expand the site. To us, it still seemed well covered, including by some ancient cork trees. The place looked great when we arrived, clearly newly redeveloped, with clean, new car parking, kids’ play areas, petanque courts, fussball and babyfoot, a café, reception, and olive trees planted all around. It’s a fairly large site with tents, campervans with electric hookups, and mobile homes. Ours had two rooms, was very new and clean, and was well equipped for cooking, with air conditioning too. We mostly cooked ourselves. We went to a couple of entertainment evenings, with a fun mix of cheesy DJ music, Bingo, and similar things. Bar drinks were good value and the basic food seemed okay. We didn’t use the modest pool, which seemed mainly for children. I’ve camped a lot and really enjoyed the experience. There were families and kids everywhere, with plenty of entertainment and laughter from the silly pool games. The curfew is supposed to be 11:30 pm, but the disco ran a bit later on some nights. We were close to the bar, so it affected us, though people were just having fun. The only downside was the tedious inventory at arrival and departure. I assume that helps keep prices down, so no real complaint there. There’s a €300 deposit, which Booking.com didn’t make clear. If you stay here, I insist you check out Plage de l'Ovu Santu, just up the road. It’s the best secret beach nearby.

We’ve been coming to Camping La Vetta for years, and it keeps getting better. It’s relaxed and well run, around a 15-minute drive from Palombaggia and other beautiful beaches. That makes beach days easy, while still giving us peace and quiet when we return. The new owners have made some great updates this year, including a new dining space, upgraded mobile homes, and lovely landscaping. We also appreciated the restaurant’s genuinely good food at family-friendly prices. Our kids had a fantastic time, especially at the foam party, where lots of families joined in and the place felt really friendly. The new two-story playground and games kept them busy for hours. The pools were amazing and always spotless, and the beach-entry pool was especially good for younger kids. Corsican music nights were a lovely extra, bringing everyone together in the evenings. It’s one of our favorite places in southern Corsica.

The campsite is very spacious and offers plenty of amenities, including a gym, bar, breakfast, and a beautiful pool. Staff were friendly and helpful, and made check-in and check-out easy. It’s good value, close to the city centre, with a supermarket just up the road. There were daily activities like game nights and live music too.

We spent most evenings at the Camping La Vetta restaurant, which has lovely salads, burgers, and pizzas. It looks over the pool and is a great place to wind down. Once a week they have a Corsican evening with live music and Corsican dishes. At the villa, we made elaborate meals in the well equipped kitchen and had barbecues on some nights. The spacious place sits in beautiful gardens with a couple of resident tortoises, and felt very private, with mountain views. After long days at the beaches, the infinity pool, hot tub, and outdoor shower were amazing. It’s the best family vacation we’ve ever had, and we can’t wait to come back.

The hidden fees were only disclosed by email after we’d booked a non-refundable rate. This is illegal and malicious. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work in the rooms, only in public areas, and it wasn’t very clean. When we questioned the fees that hadn’t been disclosed at booking, the staff hung up on us. This should be considered major sales malpractice, and Booking.com condoning it is despicable!
