Camping Les Ilots Dor

We only stayed one night at the start of October, but were really glad we picked this place. The beach is right inside the campsite, by the sea. The facilities are big, clean and very good.

The little beach is crowded and hemmed in by moored boats on both sides. It's in a deep bay too, so the water doesn't look that appealing for swimming, though there are lovely beaches along the coast within driving distance. The campsite itself is fairly big, with plenty of roomy, shady pitches, and prices are quite low for Corsica. Toilets and showers get cleaned regularly, and there's a freezer you can use for your own ice.

We left after just one night of our planned four because there were so many ants in the GR20 area that we couldn't stay in or even open the tent. The campsite is well organized, and reception refunded us for the three nights we didn't use, which was a plus. Still, the ant problem is a serious issue.

The beach was a lovely part of the stay, with a safe swimming area and boats available to hire. We also had a great time at the restaurant, especially the laid-back 80's evening. Reception were polite, professional and really helpful when I needed to sort out bike problems. A few old, worn-out caravans made parts of the site look scruffy. One beside our camper was taken away during our stay, and I believe the management are changing the rules and upgrading things. The sanitary facilities could use more cleaning and maintenance too, with some chipped sinks and cool or cold showers. Even so, I'd definitely recommend the campsite, restaurant, staff and beach.
