The area around Douarnenez is a great base for walks and sightseeing. The headlands, beaches, coastal paths, Douarnenez Bay and the Crozon Peninsula are all about half an hour away. Clos de Botcarn itself is a small, carefully renovated place just 5 km outside town. There are three welcoming, well-equipped gîtes, the owner's house, and a barn with a pétanque court, ping-pong table and a sauna and jacuzzi shared by everyone. The upstairs sloping ceilings give the cottages character, though they can be awkward at times, especially in the shower. That's a pretty minor quibble, though. Nothing's perfect, but this place deserves plenty of praise. Highly recommended!

After a walk, the shared jacuzzi and sauna were a lovely way to unwind. They're open from 5 pm to 9 pm for this cottage and two others, and the available/occupied sign on the door makes it possible to have the space to yourself. People in the other cottages kept to a reasonable amount of time, so everyone got a turn. We stayed in a lovely little cottage for two, in a peaceful spot in the countryside. The farmhouse has been beautifully renovated and is well maintained. It's close to Douarnenez, Pointe du Raz, Audierne, Île de Sein, Crozon, Locronan and more. The cottage makes good use of its space and has everything needed, including a washing machine, dishwasher and cooking equipment. We got a warm welcome with a Breton specialty, but I'll leave that as a surprise. We had a very good stay and recommend it.
