For a night on a road trip, it was OK. The free parking was easy to use, and there are several shops nearby. The restaurant has a lovely golf course view and the service was great, though sitting by the window in the evening was freezing. Breakfast is upstairs on the sixth floor with a panoramic view. Bring sunglasses if you get a window seat. The building looks like a factory, and to me it's the ugliest I've ever seen. I still wonder why such a monstrosity was built out in the middle of nowhere in France. Vines on the outside walls could hide a lot of it. Some practical room details: connecting rooms can be requested, but the TV is off to the side instead of facing the bed. The balconies were unusable, dirty with spiderwebs and crowded with bird nests, with birds constantly flying in and out. The hotel says the swallows have been protected since Covid, so it can't remove the nests. Room temperature couldn't be adjusted, and there were no directions for using the heat or air conditioning. Bathrooms were badly outdated and had no tissue box. Some rooms have old carpet; ask for a wood floor room.

Avoid this place. The housekeeping staff seemed to be trying their best, but the dirt was so ground in that they were fighting a losing battle. The reception carpet was filthy, and the rooms were just as dirty. The grounds weren't well kept, and the car park was unfinished rough stone. The reception staff were disinterested and awful to deal with, with no customer service skills. If you complain, the hotel threatens to call the police, so read the other reviews about how staff treat guests. Management seems poor too, judging by the responses and the many bad reviews. The rooms are dated, the bathrooms look like they're from the 70s, and the beds are worn out. The towels felt stiff and just as tired. Windows and sliding doors looked old and didn't work properly. The whole building felt dirty. The food was overproduced and unbalanced, with a chef seeming more interested in grandeur and overcomplicating things than using local ingredients for a good meal. This is a strange, dated hotel. The only reason I can see for it still being here is the lack of other choices in the area. Worst hotel reception staff in France. Avoid at all costs.

The restaurant was the bright spot of our stay. The food was amazing and the employees were very kind. Breakfast was nice, though not the best, and could use more variety. There also weren't many vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free choices. One thing I couldn't understand: after using our bathrobes at the pool every day for four days, staff refused to replace them, saying robes are handed out only on arrival. Does a one-night stay count the same as a four-night stay for hygiene? There's not much around the hotel itself, but a short drive takes you to some very cute villages. I wouldn't make the nearly four-hour drive for this place again, though the restaurant really did its best. Thank you for a nice experience overall.

We got there at noon, but were told we couldn't use the spa until 3 pm, when our room would be ready. We had hours to wait with nothing to do, since the bistro wasn't serving either, even though the spa had plenty of space and not many guests. Given how remote the place is, those rules felt ridiculous. The facilities are outdated, and the driving range was in poor shape. The staff's attitude and lack of service were the only things that still seemed to reflect the hotel's former glory. The service was absolutely horrible.

The room and spa were the highlights of our six-night stay. Our balcony looked over the pool and countryside, and we watched both the sun and moon rise from there. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The spa had a couple of pools, hydrotherapy areas, a sauna and steam room, plus tiled heated lounge beds that were fantastic. We wanted a quiet, hot summer stay in rural central France, and that's exactly what we got. There's a supermarket, patisserie, and wine shop about a 15-minute drive away; beyond those, there isn't a huge amount nearby. We were an English couple, and some staff spoke English, though not all. The food ranged from good to great. Breakfast was the weakest meal, with pastries, fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon, and sometimes pancakes. The sheep yogurt was a standout, some of the best we've had. Lunch offered the widest choice, with a changing plat du jour, but it was also where service felt most uneven. A couple of times there was an uncomfortable edge, which spoiled some lunches. That wasn't the norm, but it did happen. The burger was superb and highly recommended, and the turkey skewer plat du jour was delicious. Dinner was lovely to look at and to eat, and the staff always seemed friendly and attentive, despite being the same people who served lunch. The menu was limited and didn't change. We tried most dishes, returned to the goat's cheese starter and beef main, and were impressed. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return for a spa break with good food in central France. There were a couple of minor hiccups, but overall it was a great experience.
