Château des Grandes Vignes

The swimming pool was great, and we loved the views. The chateau itself was wonderful too, and the location was good.

The rooms had no fan and were poorly ventilated, and the downstairs bathroom felt shabby. Outside, despite the heat, the pool water was opaque. In the end, nothing matched what we expected.

The house was very dusty, and the cleaning lady did what she could. We felt she hadn't been given enough time to clean such a large place, and she didn't even have a proper vacuum cleaner. The cleanliness was appalling. For what we paid to rent Château des Grandes Vignes, the neglect was shameful. It may once have been beautiful, but the amenities were in poor shape: the living room window was broken, and our children found the glass outside. The toilet, bed, and sink were broken; water leaked, the plumbing drained badly, and the electrical wiring seemed unsafe. The pool barrier was too low and non-compliant, the pool robot didn't work properly, and the swing was unstable, broken, and covered with rusty nails. The grounds were neglected too.

The garden was already covered in leaves when we arrived, and plants had taken over. The sauna didn't work and was being used by the owner as a dumping ground. Inside, hygiene was awful: handles came off in my hand, sink tiles were broken and left that way, the toilets were broken, and there were leaks between floors. The list goes on, and the house shouldn't be rented in this condition. For that price, what a disappointment. The photos seem to be from when the place was still looked after. Its glory days are gone, and this "castle" has been neglected for a long time. Nothing worked properly, which was even more frustrating because a little effort could have fixed so much. It felt dangerous for children. The pool fence wouldn't close, there were exposed electrical wires and a dodgy installation, broken bed and chair legs hadn't been repaired, and the swing set was unsecured and looked ready to collapse. There was a broken window with shards on the ground that our children picked up, plus an unsecured outside hatch with stairs. Everything about the house made us wary.
