Raoul and Elisabeth know the area well and keep up with things like art exhibitions, so they can help you plan an interesting day. Giverny is a 10-minute drive away, and the nearby town of Pressagny-L'orgueilleux is tiny. Vernon, a little farther on, has plenty of shops and restaurants. You can relax in the large garden among its different seating areas, and park your car or bicycle on site. For Monet's gardens, booking a ticket online ahead of time lets you use a separate entrance and skip the queue. This is an ideal stop for a few days on the way from the Netherlands to the south of France, though I’d also recommend staying a week or two to explore Giverny and take day trips. We stayed in the cottage at the end of April, then later in the Bibliothèque suite during our tour through France. The gîte has its own kitchen and private terrace; the suite has a ground-floor bedroom and a pleasant sitting room filled with books. Both beds were very comfortable, with luxurious bedding. Breakfast was perfect, fresh and generous, with lots of homemade and organic products, carefully prepared. Elisabeth surprised us with different treats each day, and there were plenty of vegetarian options, which is rare in France. The place is beautiful!

We found a family in Giverny! Elisabeth and Raoul welcomed us with such warmth, and even had a little birthday surprise for our Lidas. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. See you soon! We love driving around France as a family, finding small villages that still show the authentic countryside, rather than only visiting famous tourist spots. We enjoy staying in historic places like châteaus and country houses, and pretending to be princesses and knights. For this trip to Monet’s gardens, we picked a guest house in the Seine Valley, just ten minutes from Giverny, hoping to enjoy the sounds and flavors of Normande nature. We found our paradise. The owners’ hospitality and big hearts made the stay special. The traditional architecture, unique garden with its small pond and many spots to sit, cleanliness, and Elisabeth’s cooking with traditional homemade dishes and local ingredients were all wonderful too.
