Camping Le Lac O Fées

The lake and the quirky Hansel and Grettle-style places to stay looked great. I wish we'd been there in better weather. We arrived on our bikes about an hour and a half before reception opened, just ahead of a downpour, and were allowed to leave them in the covered area by reception. The receptionist kindly let us use a pitch with a roofed area and gave us wine glasses for the bottle we'd bought there. We put up our tents and tarp in the breaks between heavy showers, then sipped wine when the rain started again. The sheltered spot was also handy for drying our wet clothes. The showers could have been warmer. They had toilet seats, but no toilet paper or soap.

The local pizza place, a five-minute walk away, does superb pizzas. There's also good food onsite, and the staff are brilliant. The campsite is peaceful and shady, right by a beautiful lake.

The lake view at sunset was amazing, especially with the bar right beside it at night. From the day we arrived, reception was good, and the workers spoke very good English. The campsite was clean and quiet, and we really enjoyed the calm and being surrounded by nature. For me, everything was just perfect.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay and felt very welcome thanks to the friendly hosts. The campsite sits right by the lake, where you can swim or rent a kayak. Beside it there's a large grassy area with picnic benches and a barbecue. The restaurant and bar are great for dinner or a drink at sunset, and the sunsets are beautiful. There's a little shop onsite, plus an excellent village shop with a boulangerie a few minutes' walk away. On Fridays, a great night market sets up by the lake next to the campsite.
