Bartaccia Hotel

The people working at the bar and restaurant were genuinely warm, which made it all the more disappointing that we had such a bad stay. We initially liked the hotel, but the AC in mezzanine suite No. 7, at €430 a night, didn’t work. We kept being told it was fine, even though the room was hotter than outside. Each day someone came by, looked at the unit, and played with the remote. The so-called repair team was just housekeeping staff, and it felt as if they were dragging things out until checkout. I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but we felt treated like fools. Sleeping with the windows open was the only option. It was unbearably hot up on the mezzanine, and mosquitoes left all of us covered in bites. I’d run if you’re assigned this suite. It seems very unlikely they’ll actually fix the AC.

The grounds are large, with rooms spread across four separate buildings, and there are two lovely pools. The staff were helpful. I did find the layout odd: reception was in the last area you reach, and the only small bar was by the pool. I’m not sure what happens when it rains. There was no information in the room. We were told to download an app, but it only listed the facilities and didn’t explain how to use the high-tech room features. The dining room had no menu either, just a code to scan. As older guests, we didn’t much like how impersonal that felt.

Breakfast was very good, with fruit, cereal, meat, cheese, coffee, juice, and more. Our ground-floor room was roomy, comfortable, and clean, with a large terrace furnished with a table and chairs and a lovely garden view. In the evening it was an easy walk into town, around 15-20 minutes depending on your pace. We caught a gorgeous sunset on the way, and there were plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. No complaints, we’d definitely recommend it! 😊

A lovely spot with attractive grounds, plenty of parking, a nice pool, and a poolside bar. The apartments have steep, loft-style stairs up to the mezzanine sleeping area, so be careful, especially after vino! They don’t seem great for kids, though the easy fix is to leave the kids at home.
