My biggest concern was how reception handled my call about renting a meeting room and booking more than fifteen rooms for two nights for a coordination meeting at work. I didn’t get clear answers about availability or next steps. The person on the phone came across as unfriendly and unprofessional, avoided my questions, and made odd, irrelevant comments, including asking why the event had to be in Provins. It was an unpleasant call that didn’t provide the basic information I needed. The only part of the stay I genuinely liked was Raven. The rest left me feeling that ibis Provins fell short of what most people would reasonably expect from a three-star hotel, especially for the price. This is the standard Accor ibis brand, sometimes informally called the “red ibis” to distinguish it from ibis budget, but the experience felt much closer to a lower category. If it were priced and presented more like an ibis budget style two-star place, the compromises might be easier to accept. At the current rate, they aren’t. The room was small, and the second-floor sloped ceiling made it feel even more cramped. The low headroom was genuinely uncomfortable and made the space feel oddly punishing. The layout was confusing, with little guidance, and all the lights on the first floor were out, leaving the corridor and route to the second floor poorly lit. There’s no elevator, which made getting around awkward and uncomfortable. The building didn’t feel solidly built, more like wood than concrete, and footsteps in the room and corridor were surprisingly loud and intrusive. Cleanliness was also lacking: there was visible dust, and the bathroom had a strong chemical smell, very much like bleach or Javel.

The breakfast had plenty to choose from: breads, ham and other charcuterie, cheese, mini pastries, Madeleines, fruit, yogurts, jams, cereal, and two coffee machines. The one at the back even made café mocha. The staff were kind and helpful throughout, including the breakfast attendant who made sure a couple arriving late still had food. One man spoke some English, and another tried to help my partner despite speaking less, which turned into a laugh together. We stayed two nights. The hotel feels older than other Ibis hotels, but everything was fine. Our two rooms were near reception and farther down the hall; we chose the farther one because I was worried about noise. We heard a few brief conversations near reception and outside, but nothing late, and we slept well. The beds were very comfortable. I was fine with the pillow, though my partner would have preferred another; there were no spare pillows or blankets in the wardrobe. The room was smaller than an Ibis Style room, but big enough for us and our wedding outfits. The wardrobe was adequate for two people over two days. There was no iron in the room, and we didn't ask if reception had one. The room was warm, and the shower was roomy, with body wash, shampoo, and handwash provided, though no complimentary toiletries packet. Provins medieval town is about a ten-minute walk away. Cross the road from the hotel, head toward the car park, and continue past the public toilets and tourist information. We left our car at the hotel during a short visit without any problem. The hotel was clean and quiet, with sunny outdoor seating. I'd stay here again if I were in the area. The English brochures at reception were dated 2019, though the town map was still useful. The ground outside is uneven and the car park has potholes, so take care if you're unsteady on your feet. Breakfast is served from 6 to 10 a.m.

Booking was really straightforward, and the facilities worked great for an overnight stay.

We've been Accor customers for a long time, but the quality at some of the cheaper ibis hotels seems to have declined in recent years. Nothing like this had happened to us before, even as Accor Gold Card (All) members. Late in the evening, the hotel wouldn't accept our reservation and offered us a dirty room that looked as though someone had only just got out of bed. They then refused to confirm anything in writing and effectively put us out. This was four weeks ago. We complained and sent photos, but management hasn't replied, and we haven't received a refund. Three months later, there's still no reimbursement. Accor sends us back to the hotel, while the hotel occasionally replies in a careless, completely anonymous way and points us back to Accor. Absolutely disgraceful.

The manager, who may be the owner, was really unfriendly. She spoke English but didn't want to use it. They have a very friendly dog, but its fur is scattered around the hotel, and it doesn't always make it outside when it needs the toilet. Every morning at breakfast it sat by my table, looking for food.
